What is the St. Michael's Hospice Lottery?

The St. Michael’s Hospice Lottery is a lottery drawn every Friday with the aim to raise vital funds to help us to continue providing our specialist care and support to those with a life-limiting illness, their families and carers; enabling them to attain the highest possible quality of life.

How many numbers can I buy each week?

You can purchase up to a maximum of 10 numbers per lottery draw, with each ticket costing £2 each.

What prizes could I win?

You could win one of our 20 weekly cash prizes, including our jackpot prize of £1,000, second prize of £100, third prize of £50, fourth prize of £20 and 16 runner-up prizes of £5.

What are the odds of winning a prize?

In 2019 the likelihood of winning a prize in our weekly draw, on average was 1 in 2,477 and the winning tickets for each weekly draw are generated by Sterling Management Centre Limited's Random Number Generator.

Why is the monthly Direct Debit price £8.68?

The monthly cost breakdown of £8.68 for playing the lottery is based on paying £2 per week over a 52 week year. Direct Debits are only collected once monthly. Sometimes there will be five weeks in a month and the additional £0.68 is to build up credit to cover the fifth week on the five-week months.

How will I know if I've won?

We will contact you by letter to notify you of a win. You can also check our Winners page for a full list of weekly winners.

How do I claim a winning prize?

You won’t need to do anything. We’ll verify your identity in the event of a win, then send you your prize to your registered address. It's that simple!

Can I choose my own lottery numbers?

Although you can’t choose your own number, our number generator will assign you a unique entry number that will be exclusive to you. It’s the best and most secure way to play.

What is the minimum age to join the lottery?

The minimum age to join the lottery is 16. No prizes will be paid out to winners under the age of 16.

What are the terms and conditions?

How are the lottery proceeds used?

In 2019, £278,440 was raised from ticket sales in our weekly Lottery, with 23% being spent on prizes and 13% being spent on expenses. In total 63% went directly towards St. Michael’s Hospice who provides specialist palliative care to patients and their families across North Hampshire.

How do I make a complaint?

If you wish to make a complaint regarding any aspect of our lottery, you can do so in writing by emailing lottery@stmichaelshospice.org.uk or by calling our helpline on 0370 050 1677

How do I find out my lottery number(s)?

Once you have registered with the St. Michael's Hospice Lottery, you will be sent a notification letter with confirmation of your lottery numbers. We advise that you keep this in a safe place, however if you do misplace or forget it, you can contact us on 0370 050 1677 and we can let you know.
